Early on Saturday morning, Germany announced its official withdrawal from the Red Sea, with its frigate participating in the European naval defense mission “Operation Aspides”. This comes following a call from the leader of the Yemeni group “Ansar Allah” to European countries to coordinate with Sanaa.
The frigate “Hessen” was part of the European Union’s Operation Aspides naval defense mission and was deployed in the Red Sea in February to protect commercial ships from attacks by forces of the Sanaa government (Houthis) who condition the cessation of their operations against Israeli-linked ships by stopping Israel’s crimes in Gaza.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated in a statement monitored by “Yemen Eco” website: that “Hamburg” will replace”Hessen”, which left the area on Saturday, clarifying that the frigate safely escorted 27 commercial ships through the operational area.
According to the statement, the German Ministry of Defense will send a new frigate to the Red Sea in August, while military analysts believe that the war on Gaza may not continue until August, while Sanaa asserts that it will stop its operations when the war and siege on Gaza cease.
Last Thursday, the leader of the Yemeni group “Ansar Allah”, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, accused European countries, especially Germany, of providing significant support with missiles to kill children, women, and civilians and destroy homes in Gaza, calling on the European Union and others to coordinate with the forces of the Sanaa government to safely cross the Red Sea.
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said in a speech broadcast by “Al-Masirah” channel, (Houthis Channel) and reported by “Yemen Eco” website: “There is no danger to navigation belonging to European countries that do not lean towards Israel, to pass safely and peacefully, as long as they do not head to Israeli ports and do not participate in the aggression against our country.”
He continued addressing Europeans, saying: “It is in your interest to withdraw your military forces that cost you a lot and involve you in confrontations for the benefit of the Americans, It also exposes you to risks, without the need for that, emphasizing that through coordination by any European country or any other country in the East and West, with Sanaa’s forces, you can cross without any targeting.
