The General Corporation for Developing and Grain Production in Sana’a inaugurated on last Tuesday, a display for the locally made harvesters, which the industrial workshop affiliated with corporation produced it, as a pioneer for the local harvesters’ industry, in coordination with the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in Sana’a.
The Yemeni News Agency (Saba’a) affiliated with Sana’a Government, attributed the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation in the acting government, engineer Abdulmalik Althor, as saying the production capacity for agricultural harvester, locally made estimated at two tons per hour, while the imported harvester with the same specifications only produces about one ton per hour approximately, while the cost of the imported harvester is double the cost of the locally-made harvester.
He added that there is a new batch of the locally made harvesters besides, the manufacturing of the other agricultural machines.
From his side, the vice Minister of Agriculture deputy of the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee Dr. Radwan Alrobai, that 12 harvesters were produced and will be inaugurated during this season in Al-Jawf Governorate, confirming that industrial workshop affiliated with General Corporation for Developing and Grain Production will work to receive the requests of the farmers and the citizens for providing harvest service and manufacturing the harvesters.
In his turn, the deputy of the executive director of the corporation Engineer Salah Almashreqi, confirmed that the corporation seeks to reduce the cost for the grains farmers, whereas it worked since the start of the season to distribute bags of wheat seeds to 1800 farmers in Al-Jawf Governorate, with promotional price as a white loan.
And it was clarified that the production of the one harvester reaches to 40 bags per hour, while the production of one imported harvester reaches 30 bags per hour, and this is a good and encouraging indicator.
He pointed out that the cost of manufacturing local harvesters reaches 2.7 million riyals, while the cost of the imported harvester is 4.2 million riyals.
He confirmed that the local harvester fortuned with the praise of the farmers as it is less consumption of diesel, clarifying the Grains Corporation has 27 harvesters and will be transferred to all directorates of Al-Jawf Governorate, to harvest about 3500 hectares, with promotional prices for stimulating the farmers for continuation in the grains cultivation, and expanding the wheat cultivation.
