The Sana’a government delegation returned on Tuesday with the Omani mediation delegation from the Saudi capital Riyadh after five days of meetings with Saudi officials, several sources spoke about the progress of the negotiations between the two parties, and of another round of talks soon.
No official position has been issued yet on the results of the negotiations by either party, but Yemen Eco website obtained information indicating that Sana’a delegation met during its presence in Riyadh with the Saudi Minister of Defense, Khalid bin Salman, the king of Saudi Arabia and his brother Crown Prince, in addition to a number of senior Saudi officials.
Yemen Eco website information indicates that the negotiations in Riyadh witnessed submission of profiles of both sides for various issues laid down, top of which the payment of Salaries, opening the ports and Sana’a Airport, the reconstruction of Yemen, also the mechanism of departure of the foreign forces, Sana’a delegation returned to transfer what he has heard there to the leader of Ansarallah and the head of the Supreme Political Council, the ruler in Sana’a, and after that, new consultations would be conducted between the two parties might be held in Sana’a or in Muscat the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.
Also information stated that the negotiations in Riyadh discussed some names of the issues to be negotiated, such as that Saudi Arabia wants to replace the phrase “the exit of foreign forces from Yemen with the phrase “ending the operations of the Arab coalition” transforming responsibility for reconstruction to the Gulf Cooperation Council as a whole.
The American envoy to Yemen Tim Linderking, has earlier confirmed today that there is significant progress in the Yemeni file during the current ongoing negotiations between Saudi Arabia and the Sana’a government.
Alhura TV channel attributed Linderking as saying that “there is significant progress in the Yemeni file and that by the virtue of the American and international support,” the American envoy added in accordance to the channel that “the Hothis’ negotiations in Saudi Arabia are an integral part of the American efforts to reach a permanent peace in Yemen”
Also Reuters news agency spoke about progress on the negotiations between the Saudis and the Sana’a delegation which came back Tuesday to the Yemeni capital Sana’a along with the company of the Oman mediation delegation after 5 days they spent in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
The agency said, attributing sources “that some progress was accomplished regarding the main tangled issues including in the exit schedule for the departure of the foreign forces out of the country and the mechanism of the payment of public employee’s salaries.
Sources of the agency added “that the two sides will be meeting for conduction of more talks after consultations shortly, and this is what matches with information that Yemen Eco website had obtained.
With the exception of the statements of the American envoy, any official announcements were not issued by either party on what happened by the concerned parties during the 5 days of negotiation in Riyadh.
