“Shipping Watch” website specialized in shipping, said last Monday, that the major international shipping companies, concluded an agreement with the Houthis, to stop their attacks on their vessels in the Red Sea.
The website has reported of what it named “Sources in the Middle East”, as saying “the major shipping lines have concluded agreements with the Houthis to prevent its vessels from being attacked in the Red Sea.”
After the news spread and caused economic turmoil, the two companies denied the veracity of the report and confirmed that they have not concluded any agreements with the Houthis allied with Iran for avoiding exposing their ships of attacks in the Red Sea. According to Reuters Agency.
The news agency said that the report caused the shares of both companies to decline.
Informed source in Sana’a has confirmed to “Yemen Eco” the existence of these types of agreements with international shipping companies, and considered the two company’s denials necessary because the agreement was made secretly so that the companies could avoid political reactions from Western governments.
Ensuring that there are agreements between shipping companies and Sana’a government, the ministry of transport in Sana’a praised the announcement of some companies for maritime shipping and transport lines, to stop their transactions with Israel, calling the other companies to take similar decision.
The Minister of Transport Abdulwahab Aldura said today Monday, in press releases monitored by “Yemen Eco” website that some major companies for the maritime shipping lines stopped its activities and dealing with Israel, in a step described it, as a positive and humanitarian, whereas it aimed to make pressure to stop the mass killing and lifting the siege on Gaza Strip” as he said.
Aldura stated that among those shipping companies, Cosco Chines shipping giant Company, owned to the state, explaining that it is the 4th major shipping route for containers in the world, pointing out, the Chinese shipping company will get all facilities from Yemen and all free states.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry in Sana’a government said last month, that it had directed letters to the shipping companies, the world states and the international maritime organization, in which it confirmed that the shipping in the Red Sea is safe for all destinations except Israel.
The two companies announced during the last days, the suspension of their vessels movement in the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, due to the attacks that were carried out by Sana’a attacks on ships linked to Israel, and going to the Israel ports.
Vessels affiliated with MARSEK company to some offensives, in spite of that they had announced earlier, the resumption of their movement after it had got some assurances from the ‘Prosperity Guardian” coalition, which was formed by the USA in the Red Sea.
