The American envoy roils the positive atmosphere for the negotiations between Sana’a and Riyadh

Yemen Eco | news:

The American envoy to Yemen Tim Linder king launched Yesterday Friday strange announcements on contrary of the positive statements by the Saudi government and Sana’a government when he warned of scheduling the negotiations for ending the war in Yemen which is controlled by the economic and humanitarian files.

Linder king said in an interview that has been monitored by “Yemen Eco” website with Sky News Arabia of the UAE that “there is a tangible progress to reach a solution for the Yemeni crisis” warning at the same time of “laying time framework for reaching a final solution”

Linder king based his warning that “there will not be guarantees to oblige both parties by this agreement which will be responsible for the obligations that they are committed to” as he expressed.

Before the American envoy’s statements, the atmosphere of optimism remained as a result of the statements of officials in Sana’a and Riyadh that described their talks as positive.

These statements cast a shadow of doubt and indicated the presence of American observations during the negotiations.

Since the announcement of the truce in April 2022, Sana’a has accused the United States on several occasions of seeking to thwart negations and political negotiations and a political solution in Yemen, and the solution has been fragmented, especially with regard to disbursing the salaries of the state employees in Yemen.

During that period, the Sana’a government was accusing the coalition and the American side of intransigence and refusing to accept what it considered legitimate rights, namely the disbursement and the opening of ports, etc… however, since the visit of the Saudi ambassador to the capital Sana’a and his meeting with the leaders there, the statements coming out of Sana’a began accusing the American of obstructing the disbursement of salaries, without accusing or exonerating the Saudis.

A political source in a conversation with “Yemen Eco” website in Sana’a explained that the Saudis have shown their readiness for a solution for the salaries file during the visit of the Saudi ambassador to Sana’a, and even the official reports from both sides about the visit agree that there are still some matters that need further discussions, consequently, there was an implicit message that the results would be announced after the completion of these discussions and the end of the last Eid alfiter holiday.

However, coinciding with that message, the White House announced a phone call by an official with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, and announced that the American envoy to Yemen, Tim Lender King, would visit Riyadh the day after that call, the latter started to use the term “Complex issue” in his conversation about the disbursement of the Yemeni employees’ salaries, he was the first who invented the issue of disbursing the salaries of the medical and teachers sector consequently the split of the salaries.

Coming back to the statements of the American envoy to the American channel increased doubts on the American attitude and enhanced the accusations against the United States seeking to split the solution and this time from the gate of warning of laying a time framework for the final solution in Yemen.

Earlier, the head of Sana’a delegation Mohammed Abduslam, and the Saudi Minister of Defense Khalid Bin Salman both stated after their meeting in Riyadh, that the atmospheres prevailed in the discussions between them were positive.

Information obtained by the “Yemen Eco” website indicated that the negotiations in Riyadh witnessed the presentation of the two parties’ perceptions of the various issues at hand, most notably the disbursement of salaries, the opening of ports and Sana’a airport, and the reconstruction of Yemen, and that the Sana’a delegation returned to convey what was heard there to the leader of Ansar Allah and the head of the ruling council. In Sana’a, after that new consultations will be held between the two parties in Sana’a or perhaps in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.

The information also reported that the negotiations in Riyadh discussed some names for the issues that have been negotiated upon, such as Saudi Arabia wants to replace the phrase of the exit of foreign forces from Yemen with another phrase to end the operations of the Arab coalition, transferring the responsibility of the reconstruction of Yemen to the Gulf Cooperation Council as a whole.
